12-Week Vocal Development Plan

Defining system: Technique → Coordination→ Expression → Performance

Consultation: During the initial consult, we will discuss your background, goals, ambitions, musical styles, favorite artists, and more. This is the architect sketching out the building before the construction crews are called in!

Weeks 1–2: Foundation & Assessment

Focus: Awareness + baseline technique

What students can expect:

  • Vocal assessment (range, tone, habits)

  • Introduction to breath coordination

  • Posture & tension release

  • Basic warm-up routine

  • Choosing a song that fits your current voice

Outcome: “I understand my voice better and have a starting point.”

Weeks 3–4: Breath & Stability

Focus: Control and consistency

What students can expect:

  • Breath support work (without overcomplicating it)

  • Reducing strain and pushing

  • Sustaining tone evenly

  • Beginning phrase shaping

  • Continue working song (cleaner, more stable)

Outcome: “My voice feels more stable and less forced.”

Weeks 5–6: Tone & Resonance

Focus: Sound quality

What students can expect:

  • Finding natural resonance (not manufactured tone)

  • Vowel shaping

  • Reducing nasality or dullness

  • Exploring vocal color

  • Song work becomes more expressive

Outcome: “I like how my voice sounds more.”

Weeks 7–8: Range & Flexibility

Focus: Expanding capability safely

What students can expect:

  • Extending range (without strain)

  • Smoothing transitions (breaks/register shifts)

  • Agility exercises

  • More confident high/low notes

  • Possibly introducing a second song

Outcome: “I can do things I couldn’t do before.”

Weeks 9–10: Expression & Performance

Focus: Bringing the voice to life

What students can expect:

  • Emotional connection to lyrics

  • Dynamics and phrasing

  • Storytelling through sound

  • Performance mindset (not just “singing notes”)

  • Refining song(s)

Outcome: “I feel like I’m actually performing, not just singing.”

Weeks 11–12: Recording & Refinement

Focus: Polishing + real-world application

What students can expect:

  • Recording voice (if applicable in studio)

  • Listening back and adjusting

  • Fixing inconsistencies

  • Final polish on song(s)

    • Optional: demo-quality recording

Outcome: “I have something I’m proud of.”

**After 12 weeks we will take stock of what is working, what isn't, and where we want to focus for the next 12 weeks.
